Environment

 

Located on the rural Cheshire / Wales border we have a responsible approach towards the environment. Topwood is an ISO 14001 accredited business and all of our business activities are covered by an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

ABOUT OUR PEOPLE

 

We only engage personnel directly - No agency staff, employees are CRB checked and vetted to BS7858 for the security clearance of employees.
All wear uniform and ID passes.

Topwood are members of the BSIA Information Destruction Section. To gain entry Members must prove, among other things, by independent audit that they comply with the Standard EN15713:2009. By engaging a BSIA registered business organizations can be confident that they material will be destroyed and recycled in a professional and responsible manner.

ISO9001 accredition verifies that a business complies with the quality standards incorporated into its operating procedures. Topwood’s operating procedures and standards are audited Bureau Veritas www.bureauveritas.co.uk on an annual basis. For example Topwood state that all staff are CRB checked. In an audit Topwood have to demonstrate and prove that all staff are CRB checked.

ISO14001 deals in particular deals with a business’ environmental impact. Topwood has set out how it will minimize any adverse effects on the environment and where possible enhance positive environmental impact. For example Topwood plant a hardwood tree for every 500kg they shred. To retain there ISO14001 accreditation Topwood might have to prove to Bureau Vertitas where the trees are planted and in a manner set out in the company manual.

Requirements of the Data Protection Act. Topwood ensures that where it is engaged by customers on their behalf it complies to the requirements of the DPA 1998. For example Principle 7 of the act states that information must be destroyed in a ‘proper manner according to established standards’. Topwood embodies and practices the standards and ensures it’s customers a complete chain of custody.
